Legal guardianship support trusts

A trust to support the guardianship system provides backup to the management of the assets of wards under the guardianship system. Wards entrust cash with trust banks and other institutions, and the guardian makes regular payments from the funds in the trust to the savings account managed by the guardian in order to provide for the ward's living expenses as well as special one-off payments for medical expenses and other requirements.

Under the trust to support the guardianship system, the entering in the trust agreement, special payments from the trust, change in the terms of the trust, and procedures for terminating the trust follow written instructions from the family court; thus, the family court's involvement ensures safe preservation of a ward's savings.
